'Opportunities in Mature Areas' is the theme of this conference. In times of worldwide increasing energy demand and hiking energy costs, human mankind still is using and needing more hydrocarbons then ever. Earth sciences and engineering are requested to establish new technical models for these needs, introduce leading edge technology and provide new technical skills and methods, all with the aim to achieve additional production of oil and gas in mature areas and already existing fields and to enhance and prolong the economic field life.

In 2004 EAGE and SPE decided to incorporate the SPE Europec into EAGE’s Annual Event. As a consequence of this cooperation a truly multi-disciplinary event is created with a full diversity of geoscientific and reservoir engineering contributions.
