The theme of the symposium is ‘Resources to Reserves – Make it Happen Now!’ This theme reflects the key challenges, being not only our ability to identify which technologies can economically add significant reserves but also not to waste time. There is quite a lot of knowledge about classical EOR schemes that can be brought to bear. However, we have also learned that interactions with complex geology need to be considered to make such techniques successful. More than in the past, the emphasis is on monitoring and control. In addition, the search is on for new methodologies that are more energy-efficient and safeguard valuable gas resources, while also having a minimal environmental footprint. This is especially challenging for the very complex and unconventional resources.The programme touches on the most important topics for Improved and Enhanced Oil Recovery.
