Recent advances in non-seismic technologies and the emerging need to characterise subsurface systems have led to increasing interest in and applications of electromagnetic, gravity, magnetics, remote sensing and other non-seismic methods. Various groups have applied non-seismic techniques with noticeable success to applications in both exploration and production. Thus, it is time to review current methods and explore new directions for the future (e.g., magnetic gradiometry, gravity
gradiometry, borehole gravimetry, microelectromechanical (MEMS) sensors, permanent sensors, etc).
The goal of this EAGE workshop is to bring together key experts from research institutions, oil companies, contractors and government agencies to share and discuss experiences from their implementation of ‘non-seismic methods’. We hope to define the future needs within the area of ‘non-seismic methods’ by mutually discussing and learning about the future challenges with each other.
The workshop will focus on integrated applications of non-seismic technologies and how they relate to exploration and production challenges in the Middle East.
The deliverables from the workshop include learning from discussions and presentations of integrated case studies. The workshop will focus on the success stories as well as discussing the failures we have experienced and how to avoid them. New innovations will also be introduced to help us better understand the subsurface.
The workshop will comprise oral and poster presentations as well as invited presentations.
