Istanbul will be hosting Near Surface 2007 – the 13th European Meeting of Environmental and Engineering Geophysics of the Near Surface Geoscience Division of EAGE. The meeting will be held Monday 3 to Wednesday 5 September 2007 inclusive in the Istanbul Technical University - Suleyman Demirel Cultural Center.
This conference will focus on applied geophysical methodologies applicable to urban planning and infrastructure. It will include geotechnical earthquake engineering as an understanding of the state of practice of soil investigation is the a need of our modern culture to preserve human life and values. Application of geophysical techniques for archaeological exploration will show us how these lead to a better understanding of our history.
The conference is intended to provide a stimulating forum for Turkish geoscientists and geophysicists from all over the world regarding application of geophysical methodologies to environmental and engineering practice in Europe. Recent developments in geophysical near surface instrumentation will be exhibited by manufacturers on the conference
