Travel grants

Congratulations to all students who attended the 71st EAGE Annual Conference & Exhibition in Amsterdam 2009 and received a travel grant based on their efforts at the Conference.

Thomsen/BP Scholarship
(An EAGE/SEG project)

One of the currently available scholarships is the Thomsen/BP Scholarship. This scholarship is a cooperation project between the EAGE and SEG scholarship committees. There are two full time student scholarships available, one at a North America University and one at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, United Kingdom.

Students interested in the scholarship for the North American University can apply at the SEG scholarship committee.

If you are interested in the scholarship for Heriot-Watt University, you can apply with the EAGE scholarship committee, by downloading and completing the application form [PDF:143 kB]. Please note that for the Heriot-Watt University scholarship it is required that you will start or already be studying at Heriot-Watt University during the academic year 2010-2011.

Gustavo Sclocchi Award

EAGE, SPE Italian Section and Assomineraria, which is the Italian Petroleum and Mining Industry Association, are glad to announce the 17th Sclocchi Theses Award. The award was started in 1993 and since 2001 it is entitled to Gustavo Sclocchi, an Eni manager who was the main promoter of this event. This contest is aimed to encourage and reward university and diploma graduates as well as Ph.D.’s in petroleum engineering and geosciences from Italian universities or by Italians graduating abroad.

The theses must cover subjects related to Hydrocarbon and Geothermal Exploration & Production activities: Geology, Geophysics and Formation Evaluation, Well Drilling and Completion, Reservoir Engineering, Production and Transport, HSE and Energy Economics.

The winners will receive a prize of €2,400 each. The Award ceremony will take place in December 2009. Applicants must have submitted their abstracts before the deadline of 14 September 2009 to the Sclocchi Award contact. Please find here the details on the Sclocchi Awards 2009.

ENeRG Award

ENeRG being Europe's only Network promoting R&D capability in Geo-Energy in the service of European Industry offers 2 certificate awards to be given to the best presented paper and the best presented poster from students attending the EAGE European annual Conference and Exhibition. €1,000 per award will be handed out by the ENeRG president during the Student Conference Programme at the annual.

Student poster presenters attending the EAGE Conference and Exhibition in Amsterdam are eligible to qualify for the €1,000 award for the best presented student poster of Amsterdam 2009. Awards are always annouced the following year at EAGE's annual conference and exhibition.

ENeRG president and ENeRG members look forward to announcing the ENeRG award for Amsterdam 2009 during the Student Conference Programme in Barcelona 2010.

Baku Scholarship

The Baku Scholarship is an arrangement between EAGE and the Azerbaijan Society of Petroleum Geologists that offers the opportunity for 4 students to receive monthly support for a period of 10 months. The scholarship winners are chosen at the Annual ASPG Student Conference and the winners start to receive the scholarship benefits after the conference.
