This workshop will focus on innovative applications of geophysical techniques that contribute to understanding nearsurface geology covered by cities or infrastructures. This information is in high demand as population densities increase, infrastructure expands and related geological risks arise. Urban geophysics needs to address issues and challenges related to noisy settings and to logistical restrictions for instrumentation setup. The workshop will include invited presentations that will be structured into two different approaches to face urban complexity.

One will focus on adapting traditional techniques to increase and isolate signal from noise. The second approach takes advantage of the noise to transform it into a useful signal. Techniques such as seismic interferometry and ambient noise analysis will be included.
