Curtin University’s Department of Exploration Geophysics, part of Western Australia School of Mines (WASM), provides internationally recognised specialist geophysics degree courses from BSc and MSc to MPhil and PhD. The department offers training in latest techniques in exploration geophysics. Academic staff and postgraduate students are continuously involved in frontier scientific research. The department is the key academic partner in Curtin Reservoir Geophysics Consortium (CRGC) of global oil industry majors and geophysical contractors. Research covers major areas: theoretical rock physics; experimental rock physics; seismic processing and imaging; reservoir hydrocarbon and groundwater characterisation and monitoring, including CO2 sequestration; and hard rock seismic.
