Workshop summary
The workshop is intended to give a brief overview on the basics of sequence stratigraphy and its applicationin seismic strategy. It will provide a summary on the methodology of seimic stratigraphy and describe recommended workflows. The workshop will be supported by a variety of case studies and examples both from siliciclastic and carbonate depositional environments in order to highlight the use of the method in exploration and production.

Description
Gabor Tari takes you back in the interesting history of the Black Sea: "Geology and Archaeology".
The geology of the Black Sea is fascinating not only in for the petroleum geoscientist but also for archaeologists. The biblical Noah's Flood could have occurred in the Black Sea as offshore research activities in the last two decades revealed evidence for a catastrophic flooding of a Black Lake about 7000 years ago. Whereas the 'flood hypothesis' became heavily debated in the scientific community, the Black Sea, given its special physiography connected the Mediterreanean only via the Bosphorus, did witness major sea-level falls in the geologic past. In this talk the geologic evidence for these earlier events, occurring during the Messinian (Late Miocene) and the latest Eocene, will be reviewed.

It challenges university students to show their geoscientific knowledge and skills learned during the course of their studies. Up to 30 teams, of which also the winning teams of the regional Geo-Quiz battles, will be put to the test as they compete to outwit each other, striving to win fabulous prizes.
